Happy Birthday Mozart! (From The London Mozart Players)

--

268 years young, LMP (London Mozart Players) celebrated Mozart’s birthday at Turner Sims with a selection of his works. Such as his Symphony No 1 in E flat, K16, written when he was 8! Concerto for violin and orchestra in G, K216 demonstrated Mozart’s abilities as, not just a keyboardist and composer, but a talented violinist.

Divertimento in B flat, K137 was composed for the Archbishop of Salzburg’s orchestra when he was 16. As ever, this was a family affair as his father played in it, whilst Mozart led. Ending with Symphony No 29 in A, K201 (or Mozart does Beethoven), composed when he was 17 and in position as a court musician to the wonderfully named Prince-Archbishop Hieronymus Colloredo, ruler of Salzburg.

Delightful, energetic and moving — this concert also may inspire dangerous shoe and cape dress envy. In colours of red and black, there were some fabulously pointy red shoes being warn and a beautiful red cape dress!
