My Cultural 2022

--

In the style of 12 Days of Christmas….

0 UK Lockdowns!

0 bus trips to work — I started walking to the station this year because post-Lockdown services were so awful and disconnected with other forms of public transport, I was fed up with missing connections and being made late or nearly late all the time on my journey to work

1 guest blog — IVPbooks.com — https://ivpbooks.com/blog/guest-post-can-women-be-trusted-in-leadership.html

1 Prince Charles Cinema membership — what a bargain and a convenient location….(and selection of films!)

1 Crosslands book reading group (online)

1 Urban ministries course — thank you Dr Duncan Forbes

And 1 gig — first time seeing Limoblaze (and a sneaky peak of Lecrae!!!)

1 first time COVID in the summer…. =(

2 HIITs in person with Joe Wicks — one in the 02 London and one a world record attempt in Hyde Park

2 in person operas!

2 History HIT courses (Janina Ramirez wowed me on all things medieval)

2 failed attempts to volunteer at festivals — Chalke Valley History festival didn’t happen for me as expected — trains + exam invigilation; and ditto trains + exam invigilation looming for Big Church Day Out. This year I need to really think about managing time well, but want to have a go!

3 Bond movies — live in concert (with an orchestra) at the Royal Albert Hall

3 Ukraine supporting events — 2 ballets and 1 online play!

4 book launch teams….

5 Daniel Craig Bonds!!!! Because it’s….

6–0 years of James Bond! (and watching a lot of new to me non-Craig Bond movies — loved seeing Bonds on the big screen at the cinema)

700 pounds fundraised for Webber Street guests through 1 sponsored November sleepout…

8 or 9 or 10 weeks of UK train strikes =( I’ve lost count….

9(6) amazing globes in Trafalgar Square — https://www.theworldreimagined.org/

10 cinema trips (atleast!)

11 (+150 more) blog posts! on Medium and Substack

12 atleast theatre visits — lots! (in person and online)

12 Lion confidence meetings — if you haven’t Action Jackson’ed your life — you should!

My Own Personal Cultural Highlight! Apologies to Avatar II, but this was a cultural highlight in itself — Kermode and Mayo made me laugh so much in this review! https://youtu.be/CM-G84d0RWg
